Wolfenstein: The New Order is single-player only
Wolfenstein: The New Order, announced yesterday from MachineGames, wont have a multiplayer mode. The developer revealed the single-player focus today, along with new revelations about the story and setting of the franchises return.
GameSpot shared the details. We knew from yesterdays announcement that it takes place in an alternate 1960s, in which Nazis won World War 2. B.J. Blazkowicz has apparently been locked in an asylum since defeating robo-Hitler, so his discoveries about the world echo our own. Among them: some kind of large scientific leap led the Nazis to create an array of new technologies, and even win the race to the moon.
The technological achievements also lead the weaponry and enemies. MachineGames is trying for a retro sci-fi feel, introducing elements like a laser turret and various robotic enemies like drones and sharp-jawed robo-dogs. They want the game to be focused on movement, so you can duck behind cover but the game has no cover mechanic.
Finally, though Wolfenstein focuses primarily on action, youll be exploring and solving puzzles in various international locales. Specifically mentioned are Polish mountains, and the Berlin catacombs.
