Max Payne 3 Finally Releasing in March
More than eight years after the release of Max Payne 2, gamers will finally be able to get their hands on Max Payne 3.
Rockstar today announced plans to release the elusive title sometime during March 2012 on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. It didnt nail down an exact date, but given how many times its slipped back over the past few years -- it was originally supposed to be out in 2009 -- and how little Rockstar has talked about it as of late, this is at least something.
Unlike the first two titles, Rockstar itself is handling development of MP3 instead of Remedy Entertainment (which is working on a new Alan Wake game of some sort). A press release on the new release window says its a "true cross-studio collaboration between Rockstar Games global development teams" and talks up the technology its using (the latest from Natural Motion physics, a new version of the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine) and reminds us itll have a cover system and the return of bullet time.
The titular Payne finds himself working private security in Brazil. Gangs go after the family hes charged with protecting, and hell have to protect them, clear his name, and get rid of his demons.
Rockstar also provided some details on multiplayer, noting it will have traditional modes, a reward and leveling system, clans, and load-outs. It also "dynamically alters maps and mode progression for all players in a match."
