Hitman: Absolution Announced for 2012
The newest Hitman game has been officially announced and will be shown behind closed doors at this years E3.
Hitman: Absolution, which again stars series protagonist Agent 47, tells a more personal story than previous games. 47 has been betrayed and is now being pursued by the police as he "finds himself at the center of a dark conspiracy," as the press release explains.
"For the first time we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the Hitman fantasy," said director Tore Blystad of IO Interactive. "This is both a familiar and yet significantly different experience from other Hitman games; something our silent assassins will relish, as will all those new to the Hitman world."
Its been five years since the last new Hitman game, (Blood Money), was released. The new game has been built from the ground up on IOs Glacier 2 engine. According to the announcement, Absolution will still be comprised of the same stealth-focused gameplay the series is known for as well as some entirely new features that well perhaps learn more about at E3.
Absolution is scheduled for release in 2012 -- not late 2011, as had been previously rumored (an E3 reveal was also rumored) -- and will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
