Special GoW3 Unlocks Promised for Epic Fans

If you’ve played any recent Epic games (that is...you know, the games of Epic Games), then expect to be rewarded with "special unlocks" when you eventually play Gears of War 3 next year.
"Look for special unlocks in Gears 3 for those of you who have played other Epic games such as Shadow Complex, [Unreal Tournament 3], Gears, and Bulletstorm," tweeted game director Cliff Bleszinski last night. Not mentioned, though, were exactly what these "special unlocks" would be (blasted 140-character limit!), and whether they’d even be anything more substantial than, say, bonus multiplayer character models or something along those lines. So, it’s anyone’s guess right now.

Also not explained is why Bleszinski chose to suddenly reveal the promise of these goodies so long before Gears 3’s release late next year, although that may have something to do with giving players ample time to go back and purchase said Epic Games games to get the promised unlocks when Gears 3 finally hits store shelves. This is also the second Epic Games cross-promotion in as many weeks, as it was revealed last week that purchasers of the Bulletstorm "Epic Edition" will get early access to the Gears 3 multiplayer beta.

Gears 3 still doesn’t have an official release date, but Microsoft announced it’ll be out some time around the next holiday season after it was pushed back from its original spring 2011 release.
