NBA Elite 11 Officially Canceled
Electronic Arts has officially canceled NBA Elite 11, though the franchise itself will live on.
The cancellation comes by way of a conference call to investors (as reported by Gamasutra). Just as 1UP broke last week, EA confirmed that the franchise has moved from EAs Canadian studio -- which was hit by a round of layoffs last week -- to its Tiburon studio in Florida.
NBA Elite 11s cancellation was particularly interesting, as the games distribution was delayed literally the week before its ship date. The game was pressed and ready to be sold, with at least one of these copies making its way to eBay.
Though no reason for the cancellation was given, EA Sports head Peter Moore said in September that the game would be delayed over "concerns about gameplay polish" based on feedback from consumers, particularly after a demo was made available. That delay now appears to be permanent.
