Pre-Order Dead Space 2 and Get Dead Space Ignition

If it’s a given that you’ll be picking up Dead Space 2 when it’s released in January and have not yet pre-ordered, you might want to get on that. Anyone who pre-orders from a participating retailer will receive a code for a free download of Dead Space Ignition, which releases this week on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.
"Dead Space fans are hungry for more Necromorph action and we’re thrilled that they don’t have to wait until January to get their fix. Dead Space Ignition is a great way to jump back into the Dead Space universe while the Visceral development team completes the final stages of Dead Space 2," said Dead Space series executive producer Steve Papoutsis. "Dead Space Ignition will show fans what happens in the hours leading up to the beginning of Dead Space 2 with gameplay that is fast-paced and accessible. It’s a fun way to dig deeper into the fiction, while allowing core fans to give Isaac Clarke an edge in Dead Space 2."

If you don’t pre-order, you’ll still be able to get your hands on Ignition this week, albeit for a price. When released tomorrow, October 12, on the PlayStation Store, it’ll cost $5. The following day, it’ll be released on the Xbox Live Arcade for 400 Microsoft Points ($5).

Besides bridging the stories of Dead Space 1 and Dead Space 2, it’ll also provide rewards for players in Dead Space 2, including an exclusive Hacker suit for Clarke to wear. The game employs a Choose Your Own Adventure-style story and has four different endings.

The full-on sequel to Dead Space, Dead Space 2, will release with all of its limb-shooting action on the Xbox 360 January 25, 2011.
