Portal 2 Dated, Gets Stephen Merchant on Cast
Valve announced the disappointing news back in June that Portal 2s release would be delayed from this holiday season into next year, but it turns out it wont be too much longer of a wait after all. During GamesCom 2010 in Germany, Valve confirmed the new release date of February 9, 2011.
The news comes by way of British site CVG, so its still unclear if that specific date is for Europe only, or applies for North America as well. Even if theres a difference, though, it likely wont be more than a couple of days (North American release dates tend to be a couple days earlier than European dates).
But thats not the only Portal 2 news out of GamesCom -- Valve also announced that Stephen Merchant, who you no doubt know for appearing on and co-writing the original British version The Office, has joined the cast to voice "buddy sphere" Wheatley, which is literally a robotic sphere that will join and help the player at least part of the way through the game.
Portal 2 is being developed for the PC, Xbox 360, and, yes, the PlayStation 3, which Valve president Gabe Newell proclaimed at E3 would be the best console version of the game.
