Solid Snake May Not Be in Metal Gear Solid Rising
Solid Snake’s voice actor, David Hayter, has no idea if he’ll be needed to reprise his role for Metal Gear Solid Rising. MTV Multiplayer reports that in a recent interview, the questions turned to the upcoming action game. "I don’t know if I’m doing Metal Gear Rising," he said. "Nobody’s contacted me about it, so I have no idea." The game seems to be set after Metal Gear Solid 4, so given the way Snake’s story wrapped up it would make sense for him not to reappear.
Then again, nothing is set in stone, and Hayter could come back to do voice work yet. "They usually call me once the Japanese game is done and they’re starting to get into the English translation," he said. "So we’re not completely done, but it’s on its way by the time they get in touch with me." Konami probably would have contacted Hayter if Snake would be playing a major role, but MTV speculates he could still be in line for a cameo.
Box art for the game was leaked yesterday onto the Xbox Live Marketplace, then quickly pulled. The timing points to more details coming from E3, and a cutting-themed countdown clock could be related to the project as well. We’ll (hopefully) know the answers to some of these mysteries next week.
