Resurgence Map Pack for Modern Warfare 2 Launches
Modern Warfare 2 fans get a few new battlegrounds today when Infinity Ward and Activision take the wraps off of the Resurgence Map Pack on Xbox Live.
DLC launches for big games are often news, but in the case of Modern Warfare 2, the story takes on added precedence after The Stimulus Package broke Live sales records and managed to outsell every new full retail game to hit the shelves in April.
Not only did the first Modern Warfare 2 DLC top the charts in April, it also ranked among the best sellers in March, when God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 all sold more than 1 million copies. And The Stimulus Package was only available for two days in the month, launching on March 30. That was all the time it needed to move more than 1 million downloads.
So what can we expect from the Resurgence pack? It will be difficult, if not impossible, to top The Stimulus Package, which also managed to set sales records on the PlayStation Network, but Activision is still expecting big things.
What we do know: Three of the five maps will be all new maps, but like the Stimulus Package, two maps will be updated versions of original Modern Warfare maps. Vacant, the one-story Russian office building, and Strike, the square of apartment complexes with the statue in the courtyard, are making their way to Modern Warfare 2.
The three new maps will be Carnival, Trailer Park, and Fuel. In Carnival, players will navigate an abandoned amusement park, complete with fun house and Ferris wheel. Trailer Park is a small, tight map filled with mobile homes.
As for price, Resurgence will also be set at a Stimulus Package level of 1,200 Microsoft Points, or $15.
