Red Dead Redemption Getting Free Co-Op in June
Rockstars Red Dead Redemption may not launch with co-op play, but gunslingers wont have to wait long to team up with friends in the old west. The company announced today that an "Outlaws to the End" co-op pack will be made available for free in June on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
The pack will include six multiplayer missions and support 2-4 players cooperatively. Players can look forward to gaining XP rewards along with new Achievements and Trophies. A few of the missions included will be "Waltons Gold," which involves taking a camp and making off with as much gold as you can; "The River," in which the player takes out rebels while rafting; and a battle with the Mexican Army in "Ammunition."
"Multiplayer in Red Dead Redemption offers players a whole new way to encounter the massive open world weve created, but we felt the experience would not be complete without co-op game play," said Rockstar founder Sam Houser in the press release. "With these missions, we wanted to create new ways for players to share in the experience of engaging with this amazing landscape."
This is just the first announcement of three planned DLC packs for Red Dead Redemption, so we should be hearing about the others in the coming months. The other two may not be free, but offering up the first at no cost should certainly garner the game some good will.
