Gambling Service Accepting Bets on SSFIV Match
Paddy Power, Irelands top destination for online gambling, has announced that it will allow betting on an upcoming Super Street Fighter IV match. This marks the first time the bookmaking site has offered odds on the outcome of a videogame event.
According to a report by CVG, Capcoms European headquarters is set to host a championship fight between Ryan Hart and Femi Adeboye, two of the regions best players. The bout will be streamed live on Paddy Powers website this Thursday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. (around 11:00 a.m. PST). The site is accepting bets on everything from the winner of the match to the duration of the shortest round.
"Videogames are as much a legitimate sport as any other," explained Paddy Powers head of communications -- wait for it -- Paddy Power. "We wanted to offer sports fans and games players the ultimate thrill by offering the chance to win big on the outcome of a Super Street Fighter IV competition. If it proves popular, well open further books on other videogame competitions."
Legitimate sport or no, youll find the Super Street Fighter IV tournament in the "novelty betting" section of Paddy Powers website -- right alongside odds on which volcano will erupt next and which country will make first contact with aliens.
