Gears of War Movie Getting Scaled Back
Any movie based on Gears of War, since it revolves around big guys fighting big monsters in big environments, should feel -- well, big. But according to a new report from the L.A. Times, Hollywood sources claim its being scaled down. The budget has reportedly been cut from $100 million to "a good chunk less than that." The story has also been reduced, going from an epic to a more simple invasion story. Director Len Wiseman is said to be moving on to another project titled Nocturne. His absence would probably mean Kate Beckinsale wont be coming on to star in the film.
An update on the movies production has been a long time coming. We last heard, back in 2008, that screenwriter Chris Morgan was aiming to make it a large-scale effects masterpiece, complete with Corpsers and Berserkers. This news makes sense of the long quiet period since weve heard an update, and now it sounds like his ambitions might be seeing serious cuts, along with the hopes of Gears fans.
