Enter the Matrix

Overall: Enter the Matrix is a fun game with some rough spots here and there. It may not be worth the full $50, but it is worth spending a weekend with immersing yourself in the Matrix world and getting an alternative view that you do not see in the Matrix movies.

Gameplay: The gameplay is actually very fun and reminded me of the bullet time action in Max Payne and Dead to Rights. The fighting part of the game is a lot of fun (I always love kung fu action) and allows you either to take a guy one on one via your fists or by using an assortment of weapons. When you use your Focus, it makes aiming easier and allows you to dodge gunshots as well. Very cool. The action is also constant, keeping you interested in what is going to happen next.

Graphics: This is the area where the developers could have taken more advantage of the Xbox power. I do understand that time was an issue and this was basically a PS2 port, but it is nice sometimes when developers try harder. Other than that, the graphics are good for what they are and the frame rate stays around a constant 60 fps. The effects in the Focus mode were also well done and the enviroments are easy to navigate around.

Audio: This is where the Xbox shines. The sound effects are crystal clear and the music is straight from the movies. This is one of the high points of the game, because it easily draws you into the enviroment.

Suggestions: While Enter the Matrix had cool 3rd person action, it really could have done without the cheesy driving stages. In newer action games like 007 and Red Faction II, this can become a distraction from the main action. Plus, the driving scenes are too corny and the playability on those were mediocore. That is my only real BIG suggestion that could have made the game a tad better.

Overall Score: 8.0 / 10 NFL 2K3

Overall: Now where can I get started on the NFL 2K series that hasn't been addressed before? The series has been a must have of mine since 2K1 on the Dreamcast and have been buying a new edition every year. Having played the game numerous times on Xbox Live, the replay factor has no limits.

What really sets 2K3 apart then say Madden 2003 is the amount of quality put into each edition. I'm sure the rabid Madden crowd thinks they are almighty with the 10+ year old series but quite frankly... Madden 2003 is the same game as Madden 2001 back on the PS2 launch.

So if you are stuck between Madden 2003 and NFL 2K3, give NFL 2K3 a chance. Here you will find a polished football experience with both sim and arcade elements.

Btw I recently picked this up at Target for $29.99. If you don't own it already, its a steal at this price!

Gameplay: Sega Sports has refined the gameplay, made it more balanced over the previous games, and feels more fluid. The Xbox controller feels natural for this game.

Graphics: Even though Microsoft's NFL Fever series is optimized for the Xbox hardware, NFL2K3 exceeds it with cleaner graphics, better player models and faces, excellent stadium ambience, and a slick ESPN interface.

Best looking game until NFL 2K4 :)

Audio: ANNOUNCERS! ANNOUNCERS! ANNOUNCERS!

That is all I got to say. No other sports game features announcers as accurate and amusing as these guys. The commentary draws you into the game wheras annoy you like Madden.

Other than that, gameplay sounds from tackles to player taunts to the PA speaker round out an impressive package.

Suggestions: When Xbox Live launched, there were no roster updates for the game even though segasports.com says there are 3 already for download. Very minor, but would have been nice to get the latest rosters as soon as possible.

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 TimeSplitters 2

Overall: I never owned a Nintendo 64, but I was a fan of the Goldeneye style gameplay. The SP and MP experiences were a lot of fun and the controls were intuitive and easy to use.

Being a fan of that, I got TimeSplitters 2 on the Xbox and have been impressed since. It runs at a constant 60 fps and the controls are exactly like Goldeneye with a few tweaks here and there.

Once you finish the single player campaign, you can take your friends via splitscreen, System Link, or the XBConnect program.

Overall, TS2 is a great buy if you are into first person shooters and want a fun multiplayer experience.

Gameplay: With customizable controls and fluid movement, it won't take long to jump into the game and feel like a pro.

The single player game isn't long, but the challenge and arcade modes give it an extra boost when you want to get more from the game. You can spend hours and hours on end challenging yourself from breaking windows to setting off bombs to even outlasting zombies. Very cool.

Graphics: Not the best looking game in the world, but the graphics are clean and fit the mood well. The visual effects from gun fire to player models to level design is above average.

Audio: The sound effects came right out of Goldeneye and the background music, while discreet, completes the atmosphere.

Suggestions: Could have made the game a tad longer with extra stages and System Link Co-Op mode.

Overall Score: 9.0 / 10 Halo: Combat Evolved

Overall: One of the most rounded games ever. Very addicting and fun in SP and MP keeping you glued to the TV for hrs and hrs and losing total track fo time!

Gameplay: Adds fresh and exciting elements to the FPS genre. You thought Goldeneye was the best console shooter up game? Think again! :)

Graphics: Beautiful. That's all I have to say. Its beyond implied that alot of work was put into this game and they didn't cut any corners.

Audio: The sounds from the aliens to marines to ambience are nothing short of high quality. Bungie did their homework.

Overall Score: 10.0 / 10
