Burnout
Overall: I found this game to be truly eXciting! My heart really does race, and when the player craches, it is actually a shock and sometimes even jumping in my seat. Graphics ,music, and sound fx are really good. I think this is one of those games where on a rainy day, all your games suck, but Burnout will be the one you slide on in, and play again and again.
Gameplay: Game play is easy, yet not childish. As far as controls...minimal buttons are used, but with the design of the game driving isn't as "simple" as it may seem with just 3 buttons being used. Press brakes too hard and they'll lock up. Take turns too hard, and you'll bve pulled by centrifical force to the wall, or loose control a little. The tracks/courses are not terribly difficult, which also aloows for top speeds many times.
Graphics: Visually this is a great game. I feel at the high speeds, there isn't much time to even realize there is no bump-mapping, and the objects, other vehicles look darn good for flying past then in a heartbeat. The autos used in this game aren't licensed, but that is ok, you can still tell which car they were going for. One thing I like a lot is the fact you can see way way down the road without it getting this is great because in only a second "way way down there" is right in your face! Replays are great, realizm at a high degree.
Audio: Sound is really good. some of the music is a little bland/ repetitive, but it can be turned down. Sound effects are good as well. Engine sound a bit standard and at times loud...but it can also be turned down. Crash sounds are great. Its the initial sound of bending metal and shattering glass that make the effect great, its just a sharp, hard and short crash sound....then just tires squeeling, like a real wreck. Scary!
Suggestions: There are a few.
*Make the in game crashe replays available to turn on/off.
*Be able to add our own soundtrack.
*Get the copyrights to make real cars!
*smaller timer number on the screen!
