Dante's Inferno
Overall: Dante's Inferno is a game based on the first story in the 14th centery epic poem "The Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri. In the story Dante travels through the 9 circles of Hell (Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Anger, Heresy, Violence, Fraud, and Treachery) to save the soul of his lover, Beatrice. Dante must battle his way, circle by circle, deeper into the depths of Hell with the help of his guide, Virgil. Along the way Dante encounters many people from his past that he must deal with, good and bad. Along the way there are mony collectables to pick up which consist of 30 pieces of Judas coins, holy and unholy relics which can be used to boost Dante's abilities, Beatrice stones, and @!%#*!ed that you must punish or absolve which also help boost you abilites.
Overall Dante's Inferno is a good game with a great story. I give the game an 8.5 because it could have been better. The gameplay is nice, but gets trying over time.
Gameplay: You have 3 different sort of attacks. You can use your scythe which is your basic hack and slash attack, magic powers which you gain along the way in the story, and your cross which can be used as way to push enemies back. The scythe and cross can be improved by punishing or absolving enemies. Punishing them boost your unholy level which improves the scythe, and absolving enemies raises your holy level where you can improve your cross attacks. The magic can be upgraded on both sides, holy and unholy. The gameplay in Dante's Inferno is about the same as your basic button masher. There is alot of repedative button pressing. The game is alot like God of War, so if you enjoy those type of games, Dante's Inferno is your type of game.
Graphics: Dante's graphics are very nice. Smooth, flows well even when the screen is loaded with characters. Some minor clipping here and there, but nothing to complain about. It looks even better in high def. The game uses videos to tell the story which switch up between a mix of game engine videos, some polished and some not, and an anime style presentation of videos.
Audio: The audio in Dante's Inferno is awesome. From the sound of your scythe ripping through an enemy, your cross exploding with power, the screams of people being punished in the background, to the fire babies dragging their blades across the floor, it all comes through crystal clear.
The music in the game is a perfect blend for the game. With a big orchestra sound, it fits very nicely.
