MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf
Overall: Well I was grinning all the way home as I got this title before it was released here.
To my dissapointment this is the same arcade style game with little to offer diehard mech fans. the publishers have failed to make this a real mech game and instead sold-out to microsoft by making a kiddies game.
Gameplay: basic. you cant choose your weapons, you cant even choose your mech. all the weapons auto-aim so no real skill is required. online play is lame as can be. powerups are a joke. You walk over a power-up and all of a sudden you are repaired???? since when does a 50 foot machine repair itself?
Graphics: great graphics, improvement on prequel for sure. more mechs, better explosions but sometimes a little too large.
Audio: yeah good sound i would say, no problems there. although having the guy yell through the comm channel is really annoying. They state the mission in really childish ways.
Suggestions: Make the game as it was meant to be, not this arcade rubbish.
Battletech once required some real thought and strategy.... this is now a kids game... for shame for shame for shame
Overall Score: 6.0 / 10 Halo 2
Overall: The hyper-anticipated sequel to Halo: combat evolved. And the game carrying the hopes and dreams of xbox live players around the world. I feel it has been a spectacular failure though, as I am a huge fan of this type of game and after a month I do not feel like playing it at all. The storyline is boring and I only play a couple of the levels repeatedly, the rest are one-offs.
The multiplayer, while making some huge improvements and getting the basics right, does nto interest me as the game has been turned into a competitive sport. All the fun elements have been removed and If you cant have fun you will get bored fairly quickly.
Gameplay: The gameplay is very similar to halo with some changes designed to improve the playability and improve the balance of multiplayer.
Some of these changes do work and the multiplayer is somewhat improved although most novices wont see any real difference.
Graphics: The graphics are a huge step forward for the FPS genre. excellent detail and bump-mapping and very little frame-rate drop
Audio: Very good sound, no faults there. excellent surround sound and terrific speech from NPC's. Althogh i dont think Aliens should be speaking english!
Suggestions: Never.... EVER make a game whos story is a set-up for the sequel.
If the story cant stand on its own two feet it shouldnt be published.
Overall Score: 6.0 / 10 The Suffering
Overall: A dark and gripping game that pulls you in within seconds of starting the game. Within a minute you will be fully immersed in the scariest game youre ever likely to play.
Gameplay: Gameplay is relatively straightforward, but that is one of its strengths. It gives you more time to crap your pants.
They have created several new concepts in this game and pulled them off perfectly.
Graphics: The graphics are not necessarily groundbreaking, but that is a good thing because it makes for a good framerate. And with the enemies animation moving smoothely, this all comes together to make the graphics very smoothe and playable.
To compare it to Deus Ex 2:
Deus ex had better graphics, but was jerky so this game "feels" better in the graphics dept.
Great texturing and the random gore/bodies lying around which we all love.
Audio: This game uses sound better than any other game I have played. This is the reason this game is so scary.
If you have surround sound I would advise you to move your TV to the bathroom and play this game sitting on the toilet!
Suggestions: I havent finished it yet but I hope it is a long game.
No suggestions other than the usual.... MAKE A SEQUEL
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 Deus Ex: Invisible War
Overall: Not having played the first deus ex This was a real surprise, and what a pleasant one. its been a long time since i played such an involving and immersive RPG/shooter. so much freedom!!
Gameplay: Gameplay was awesome, although i thought for a RPG, they should have made actual SKILLS more customisable, but still the biomods make things very interesting
Graphics: simply stunning, ive never played a game which merged the graphics with the gameplay so well. the lighting simply made my jaw drop, I threw items around rooms just to marvel at the lighting!
Audio: awesome sound, surround sound was pumping, and your footsteps made a great variation in sound depending on how far you fell and what surface you walked on
Suggestions: Make another!
