Project Gotham Racing 2
Overall: An Ultimate racing game with awesome graphics and fun game play Everyone keeps remarking on the graphics of PGR2 but I think that the actual driving physics and 'feel' are an as good if not better than the graphics. The sound track is awesome and I'm still hearing new songs after 50+ hours.
Gameplay: As I said the game play is as good if not better than the graphics. Just crusing around in an RX-7 for hours gives enjoyment.
The variety of cars is phenominal and unlike some other racing games they all handle differently. Some personal favorite cars are: Mazda RX-7 (Best car ever), Mitsubishi 3000GT, Enzo Ferrari, GT-1, Ferrari 355F1,Delfino Feroce (which is to good to be in the super car class)and the Pontiac (just because of it's sound).
The variety of tracks makes cruising even more enjoyable from Moscows wide roads and free flowing racing to Edinburghs tight, fast and unforgiving racing.
The different racing types advance the game and it really makes you feel good if you manage to breeze through a cone challenge in ultimate class.
Just mucking around is fun, I once jumped a car in a serious race with an Enzo on the first corner of Nurburguin (No idea of the spelling) I finished the race just to look at the replay.
Graphics: The visuals of the game are spectacular with the cars looking better than the real thing (although I can't talk, I've never seen the real thing). The RX-7 is by far the best looking car with the Porche GT-1 and the Mitsubishi 3000GT in second and third. The City's look great althogh I would have liked to see Canberra in there. Racing down Anzac parade and round parliament house would have been awesome.
Audio: The sound is great with the cars sounding meaty especially the pontiac. The sound track is huge and contains a good variety of songs that for once aren't all techno like in most racing games. The custom sound track feature is good (Living End works well with racing.) and the ability to create your own collection from the Pgr2 soundtrack allows you to cut out the ones you don't like and there is still heaps of songs left over.
Suggestions: The game is almost perfect but In the future I would like to see a championship like section where you buy cars, upgrade them and race in a scheduled championship. It would be difficult to impliment this and still retain the Kudos system and I would settle for improvements to this system instead.
It seems to me that it is to easy to get more cars and maybe if you only started with one car in each series you might feel a bit more fulfilled in finishing the series. I found that I would just buy the best car in the series and then save my Kudos for the best car in the next series. I can't think of any way to stop this.
One final thing I would really like to race around Canberra in the future and I think you should consider what a variety of race tracks you could create here.
Thanks
