Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams
Overall: Silent Hill 2 is a very well put together game. The atmosphere, puzzles, graphics and music comes together to create one of the better games I've played the past few years.Gameplay: The important thing to remember is that this game is very different to Resident Evil, even though it looks the same on the surface. While RE relies on mediocre plot with cheap scares, this game has a great backstory (which you can learn more about while exploring SH) and uses a tense psychological terror. This is really what makes the game so fun (in lack of a better word!) to play.
Graphics: Great foggy effects, well thought out monster design and some great animation. This game is very realistic looking.
Audio: SH2 probably has the best soundtrack I'e heard in years, but what really makes the sound shine is the use of the background noises. Walk into an empty room and you'll hear some weird whispering. Try to open a door, walk away from hit and hear a large bang and a scream coming from it. All crazy stuff.
Suggestions: I'm ready for Silent Hill 3 now :)

Halo: Combat Evolved
Overall: I usually don't like FPSs at all, but Halo is really a great game. Good controls, great graphics and music, and fun game play... Best FPS game I've ever played.Gameplay: What I really dig is the AI for both friends and enemies. They hide behind obstacles, jump out of the way when grenades are thrown, etc. The vehicles are also lots of fun. In the end, the only thing that pulls down the score is the slightly repetitive gameplay.
Graphics: No shock here. While most launch games don't really take advantage of a console's hardware, Halo really is the best looking game I've ever played. Amazing stuff.
Audio: The sound really blew me away. Sure, there aren't really that much music, but when it starts playing you know something intense stuffwill go down. The sound fx are superb too, making the game that much more realistic.
