MechAssault
Overall: If you aren't into Mech games that much, but like FPS's, this game could bridge the boundary. It plays so fast and comfortable without all of the extra hassle that I've encountered in all other Mech games. Not that those games aren't good, but I just can't stand having to control every single contraption while trying to destroy the other Mechs on the battlefield. Overall with the Live play and downloadable content, this game deserves a 5.
Gameplay: Like I said, it plays really easy. You can pilot the Mechs with great ease while trying to destroy your opponents. The single player campaign was okay enough for me to want to beat the Elite campaign (though no extra bonuses like a better Ragnarok, hehe). The online multiplayer is what will keep anyone playing Mechassault for a long while to come.
Graphics: The visuals are great. The exploding Mechs, the crumbling buildings, the overheating coils on the backs of the Mechs, etc. Above average output for Xbox games.
Audio: The sounds are cool, not stupendous though. I wish there was music in multiplayer or customizable tracks enabled. The weapons' sounds were good enough though.
Suggestions: Give us the downloadable content NOW!
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
Overall: I don't care what some people say, this game lives up to the hype. The demo was cool, and the full version is even more amazing.
Gameplay: Not everything is immediately aware, and it plays like more of a puzzle game if you're patient. It is a stealth game in every aspect and plays better than all the rest I've tried. The controls are easy to learn if you pay attention. And the amount of ways you can take people out is beyond belief. It's so call to drop down on someone from above, throw a bottle at his head to knock him out, or just straight up shoot him. It's always fun to think up new ways to do things.
Graphics: The visuals of this game are phenomenal. The lighting effects are better than any I've ever seen to date on a finalized game (note Doom 3), and the models and other sprites aren't too shabby either.
Audio: The great sounds of this game are in the ambience. The ambience is what you're listening to most often because you need to stay quiet as much as possible. The voice acting is stupendous too.
Suggestions: Patch multiplayer into it somehow!
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 Deathrow
Overall: I wasn't sure about it at first, but this game's hype couldn't hold me back from it. Now that I'm getting the hang of it, I find myself kicking !&%$@#* and hoping I don't get it handed back to me a couple seconds later =D
Gameplay: The gameplay is easily suitable for everyone. You can play in Sports View or Action View which can change the way you play entirely. Tackling and sliding, grabbing and holding, punching and kicking, and lots of swearing...how can you go wrong? And scoring 3 or 4 goals in 10 seconds isn't bad either. Only tried multiplayer once, and it had all of us firing insults at each other...just like any good game should do, hehe.
Graphics: The way that the characters move about, zoomed in slow-motion grabs, and the opening sequence all look fantastic. This game is a keeper.
Audio: The sounds are what make this game so sweet. The bone-crunching breaks and the constant swears flying around are excellent. Though it only has 5 music tracks, it has the ability to compile your own track list, which is a plus for any Xbox game.
Suggestions: Why not make it Xbox Live compatible? The more Live games, the better. *shrug*
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 Halo: Combat Evolved
Overall: Awesome beyond all comprehension. This is the game that has and will set the standard for all Xbox games to come...especially Halo 2 =D
Gameplay: Amazing, simply put. This game is by far the very best FPS I have ever played for a console gaming system.
Graphics: The visuals are a stunning display of masterful work between the built-in engine and the software. Brilliant.
Audio: The sound holds no peers. Keeps on par with the rest of the game's outstanding qualities. Never disappoints.
Suggestions: Make Halo 2 even better; I DARE YOU!
Overall Score: 10.0 / 10 Dead to Rights
Overall: Way to difficult...did not even have a setting button to change the difficulty on. Even a god mode code would have made this game better. Overall, very disappointing for a game that had so much potential.
Gameplay: Some of the assigned tasks were just way to inane and ludicrous. Some of the parts I could actually beat after 5 to 10 tries were fun, but most was just way too annoying.
Graphics: On top of the that, the graphics looked like they were from Playstation 2. And the camera angles were handled horrendously, sometimes chopping off appendages or blotting out the image with a wall entirely.
Audio: The sound was okay. It seemed standard issue sound effects were put into this game, nothing flashy at all that caught my attention.
