UEFA Championships League 2006-2007 Box art UEFA Champions League 2006-2007

Every sports addict has there favorite sport to watch, play, and dream we where the general manager. Soccer fans however are different, it is more of a way of life. During the world cup events you can drive down any downtown in any major centre in Canada or the US and see fans packing in the neighborhood pub, all trying to see the winning goal of there home country. As much as we Canadians love our hockey, we won?t be packing into the local pubs this spring trying to cheer for our favorite hockey team; besides the only two teams that matter to us Canadians are out of the playoffs before they even began. The bread of soccer fan that EA is going after is not the casual fan, the casual fan won?t get it. In order to play you need to know who you are playing for.

This is the official video game of the UEF Champions League for the 2006-2007 tournament. This means you can pick your favorite team and take them all the way. The penalty kicks, corner kicks, possession time and ball control can help you on your road to victory. Do you want to make history or re-write it? The history, the pride, victories and defeats. AHH but this is EA Sports where you can right a wrong? EA has included 42 classic match scenarios that you can play to right the wrongs and the mistakes of the past. You have complete control. You can play quick games, league tournament and even create your ultimate team and play it online. The flow of the game is good, lots of ball movement, long kicks and loads of low scoring games.

I must congratulate EA. The graphics are amazing. EA you sure know how to impress with getting all of the little things right. The blades of grass will never look the same, with Xbox 360 in High definition, whoa baby this is something to be proud of. Each stadium has its own unique look and style, the player?s moves and acts like the real thing. Unfortunately the field may look different but they all play the same. Slow, long, boring games. Have you ever watched sports centre when the highlights or lack there of, for soccer come on. They spend more time showing defense and blocked shots than goals, why is this. It seems most soccer games end 1-nil, 2-2 or 2-1 in penalty kicks. The play of this game, the size of the soccer field does not blend well for the high scoring thrills I like in a sports simulation. Don?t get me wrong; in high definition it looks amazing. This game is missing the same punch the real sport is missing. To be completely honest I got bored quick. Two hours and I was urning to be playing major league baseball. I even felt the urge to go out and rake the lawn.

In North American sports, rock and roll are apart of every event. Team owners spend as much on sound systems to play during the stoppage of play as they do on some of the start players. It is hard to say The sounds of this game are bad but are they good? It was all about the sounds of the game, the singing crowds, the sound of the ball crushing into your body on a penalty kick. This is exactly the sounds I would expect at a soccer game. A little dull and no spice. Where is the same passion that is shown in every single broadcast of live events. There seemed to be no intensity and no chance of a brawl in the stands.

Suggestions:
To put this game in the proper context. If you love soccer, if you love soccer simulation you will love this game. It really does have a lot of great features that if you can get by the long boring 1-nil games you can have some fun trying to win the tournament. Something about controlling your favorite players and teams. Making passes, performing the play you actually thought of that makes this game work you get to take your team from round robin play to the championship game. Game play is more about strategy when you are good. But you need to learn the basics. Learning to dribble is an art, quick passes, over running the ball and the shot on goal are very different. Hold on the button two long and it will sail over the net into the crowd. Not going to score that way. This does assume you are able to beat the strong defense, the multitude of defenders and pass it to the right striker for a GooooAL. There will be no ripping off of jerseys in this game. Although when you finally do get one you may feel the urge to try it out in the privacy of your own home.

Suggestions to the developers would to be make the easiest level a little easier and then go for the smart AI in the higher levels. I really did have a hard time with this game and getting used to the controls and the quick foot work in soccer. Learning to dribble is an art, quick passes, over running the ball and the shot on goal are very different. Hold on the button two long and your shot will sail over the net into the crowd. Not going to score that way. This does assume you are able to beat the strong defense, the multitude of defenders and pass it to the right striker for a GooooAL. Overall it is a good game and if you are a soccer lover and I know you are out there this is a game that will not disappoint you.
