Ninja Gaiden 3

It's time Ryu Hayabusa to fulfill your destiny and start on your path to righteousness.  The fountains of blood will flow once again as we don the mask of the most famous ninja in video game history.  Get ready for the dismemberments, the decapitations, and the painful cries of agony as you disembowel multiple enemies in a single strike.  Prepare yourself as we at XboxAddict try to shed some light on this shadowy ninja and expose some of the gory greatness that is Ninja Gaiden 3.

So far the story is much like the legend of the Ninja themselves, shrouded in mystery.  From what we have learned the Japanese Self-Defense Force of the Ministry of External Affairs has requested that Ryu Hayabusa himself be summoned to London to confront an evil that is solely bent on destruction.  Like we said before, very mysterious.

Ninja Gaiden 3 is the supposed reboot of the Ninja Gaiden series and is the first Ninja Gaiden title without Tomonobu Itagaki at the helm, but make no mistake, Team Ninja is doing everything they can to guarantee one of the smoothest, goriest, and action packed games we have ever played.  There are tons of new innovations that we got to experience, so let us shine some light and expose some of the secrets of Ninja Gaiden 3.

Innovation is the name of the game when it comes to Ninja Gaiden 3.  One of the new weapons that add to the gameplay mechanics are the Kunai Climb which enables Ryu to scale and climb certain walls and obstacles and attack enemies up on high.  This new innovation isn't the only new gameplay mechanic as we are introduced to Ryu Hayabusa's new demonic arm.  Details about this new demonic arm are scarce so far, however, one thing is for sure, and this can literally turn your ninja into an unstoppable force of pure destruction.  Instead of absorbing different colored orbs your arm now absorbs the souls of the very enemies you destroy with your sacred sword.  After you have killed enough enemies your demonic arm will start to glow and with the push of a button you can send Ryu into a killing frenzy where you control which enemy will expire next.  Before when you killed it was quick and over in a blink of an eye, but now as you take out enemies you will hear them cry out in pain and even beg for mercy, but alas, mercy is a trait you do not have.

There are also some major changes since previous versions of Ninja Gaiden and that would be the removal of the Muramasa statues that we all remembered that provided a place to buy items and upgrade our weapons.  Not a lot of details have been provided as to how this will happen, but another shock to the Ninja Gaiden system is that the dragon statues where Ryu would be able to heal and save his game has been replaced by a falcon.  The falcon now flies and lands on Ryu's arm and grants him the same options now apparently that we had with the dragon statues.

With plenty of more twists and turns to develop in this upcoming Ninja Gaiden title, we are all waiting on the edge of our seats to see just how this fast paced hack-and-slash game plays out.  With a lot of new innovations including a recently announced 8 player co-op and competitive modes, we can't wait until this release in "early" 2012
