Undisputed: The Problem Child DLC
by Brent Roberts
When Undisputed released it tried hard to take the belt from games like Fight Night, though it put up one hell of a fight (our full review can be read HERE). To help even the odds, Deep Silver has come out with The Problem Child DLC for $19.99, and you guessed it, Jake Paul headlines the DLC. Some of the great things that Undisputed had going for it were character modeling and the knockouts, and we are in luck because in this new DLC we get more of both.

The boxers included in The Problem Child DLC are:
- Jake Paul
- Zhilei Zhang
- Juan Marquez
- Erik Morales
- Marcon Barrera
- James "Buster" Douglas
- Otto Wallin

Now it should be noted that all the fighters now come with 3 versions of ring attire (gloves, shorts, boots) except for the man with his name on the DLC, Jake Paul, who gets 4 versions. You can start to see how this almost seems like a tribute cash grab DLC for Jake Paul and Deep Silver to go on the back of the Mike Tyson fight (speaking of which, where is Iron Mike Tyson?). While we're talking about ring attire, The Problem Child DLC also comes with alternate ring attire for the following fighters:
- Deontay Wilder
- Roy Jones Jr.
- Terence Crawford
- Vasiliy Lomanchenko
- Seniesa Estrada
- Sunny Edwards

With Undisputed, mentioning that there are two new knockdown and knockout animations you'll notice new, almost ragdoll-like animations for the knockouts where the screen flashes in an instant and the opponent will almost collapse in the ring like a falling tree or a demolished building. These are a brutally new addition to Undisputed and provide entertaining ways to go headhunting for your opponent. To extract this violence, you're also given two new arenas: Atlantis and Cambrian Hall. Cambrian Hall is a very distinguished looking setting with tables sitting around a ring seated in a massive great hall with titanic columns all around, and its area lighting that puts it right in the middle of a James Bond film. Atlantis is exactly what you're thinking, a boxing ring that is under the water in a colossal arena where you can see fish and wildlife swimming all around you and a massive tunnel that the fighters enter through. This venue has rapidly become my personal favorite to fight in.

Within this DLC you also get the new ability to move up and down up to three weight classes with the same fighter, so if you're right below heavyweight and want to move up? Lace up and step up and make the move. Speaking of these weight classes, Cruiserweight, Bantamweight, and Light Heavyweight classes have now been added to quick fights and online Ranked matches, so you have more available fighters to play as online. There were some other improvements with the audio and announcers, but I turned them back on to hear the improvements and I turned it off after a couple fights again.

The main focus, without question, has to be the fighters and their outfits, which makes this feel more like a "skin pack" than anything of worthwhile substance. Yes, there are improvements to the UI and some minor tweaks and adjustments, and yes, you get 7 new fighters to play as and a couple new venues and knockout/knockdown animations, but the real bread and butter comes from the ability to move up and down several weight classes. With the price point of this at $20 I would wait on this DLC till it hit the $9.99 mark at most, as the content tries to deliver but ultimately gets knocked out at the end because you still don't have all the customization options and quality experience that you could get from the reigning Undisputed King, Fight Night.
